Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Ground: rocks, sand, dirt, paths, walks, trails

Whenever I think of rocks and trails, the spectacular Niagara Escarpment in southwestern Ontario comes to mind.  For this photo challenge, I’ve selected a few pictures from our end to end hike on the Bruce Trail last year.

It’s been a long time but I drove – not hiked 😦 – the trail up to Tobermory and Flower Pot Island, Sauble Beach and Lion’s Head – a very interesting area.

  3. What a breathtaking view. I’m not much of an adventurer, so I have to enjoy views like this through other people’s photos!

All mindblowingly beautiful, Joanne – especially (à mon avis) the third … if only it weren’t for the vandals …

  8. Great shots, Joanne! Such stunning terrain.
You have heard, perhaps of the local [inappropriate?] joke that makes the rounds at Lion’s Head?
Q: “Where is the lion’s head?
A: “About 6 feet from his butt.

My hiking partner and I both took a few tumbles trying to walk and look around at the same time. The terrain was often quite challenging and stopping to look at something was mandatory!

I went for a (short) hike on the Niagara Escarpment near Buffalo a few winters ago. I love the pictures from a different part of it. So similar yet different!

What a wonderful hike Joanne. Is there any rock climbing in that area? The fourth photo looks like it could be prime for that.
