Finding Peace In Solitude – Photo101

Today’s theme is on solitude and I puzzled over several different ways to interpret it. While weighing a number of options, my thoughts kept drifting back to – in my opinion – the ‘ultimate’ solitude.

Our final departure from this world is a one-way trip we make alone.  We cannot bring anyone, or anything, with us … whether we are ready or not.  We may rest in a place surrounded by others, but our solitude is complete.

Today’s photo is from the beautiful Mount Pleasant Cemetery in a special forested area for those who prefer the quiet and solitude of nature.

It does look like a peaceful place, as long as there’s daylight, at least! (I think I’ve seen too many movies about ghost or just plain ‘ol creepy people that hang out in cemeteries after dark 🙂 )

I love this saying..”Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO what a ride!”

That’s a most delightful cemetary, and positively invites visits ! Easily the most pleasant I’ve ever seen, Joanne !

  5. This is the one that has all the runners and walkers, etc, right? I’m glad it has a corner like this too. It looks lovely.

Perfect choice for solitude and contemplation. Hub and I actually walk cemeteries occasionally, and that always leads to meaningful discussuions.

  8. I’ve been to that cemetery. On a hot September day – nice place to get ar bit of relief from the heat. It is very beautiful and excetionally busy. Interesting choice for the theme solitude. Very true, that journey we must take on our own.

I think most cemeteries are beautiful and peaceful. I don’t want to be in one anytime soon but they’re pretty places nonetheless.

  13. I like how the graves are among the trees rather open, exposed, all in orderly rows. Perfect take on the prompt.
