August In The Rearview Mirror

What happened to August?  One minute it was July and then in the blink of an eye, I found myself staring down the last handful of days in August.  I’m not ready for summer to be over so quickly.

This is a snapshot of the busy month that was August:

I can’t forget my fur-baby this month.  In the excitement of July, I missed him last month. Theo has been particularly tired these days.  The Mouser has been on active duty and I’m finding the evidence of his hunting forays in the pool most mornings.

  1. I like that you featured trails, bridges, water scenery along the river, lavender fields and a kitty worth cuddling up with in a month or two when a warm body would be nice! 🐈 ❄🌫
Joanne, I love your front yard uphill shot and the stone (decoration) which resembles a barrier, the grasses with red streaks and bright fuschia flowers was a uniquely beautiful shot/angle!
The cornflowers although not scented were also quite pretty.

  2. And somehow, it is September!
Fall may just be my favorite season, but I’m still wishing that time would slow down.
I adore that third photo down. I want to walk down that path! And that photo of Theo is wonderful

    • Not only is it September, but we are already 5 days into it!! Holy Hell, but the wheel seems to be spinning quickly!

I do love autumn, but I have this vague feeling of dread. It was such a non-summer, I’m afraid winter will arrive early this year and that’s not a happy feeling.

  3. Evidence in the pool? Gulp. Makes the idea of being a pool boy/girl far less appealing i have to say. Here’s hoping we have a gorgeous fall and the snow is many months away.

  4. Those are all lovely photos, Joanne, for a busy and lovely August. The lavender field is my favorite! Hope you have an equally awesome September and beginning of fall. Or perhaps you just want to lay on the bed a few days with Theo and get some rest. 😉

  5. I’m sorry that summer is coming to an end for you up there in the north, but not sad that winter is coming to an end here. Love your flower photos, blue skies and lavender – I can almost smell them. Your Theo looks so loved and content 🙂 good to hear he’s doing his bit to keep the mice under control.

    • For those of us who live with very distinct seasons, the transition from one to the other often comes with a sense of anticipation. While we are in the depths of winter, I shall be enjoying photos of your summer 🙂

  6. Great picks…sounds like your summer was quite busy.

I love the kayak during the eclipse, that’s a new one for me. We didn’t see much down here. It just turned dusky and I didn’t have glasses so I used Rick’s welding shield.

I had to laugh at your cat throwing its trophies in the pool…ours usually ate them. 🤣

    • Theo is very well fed – his pot-belly kind of gives it away – but it doesn’t seem to stop him from the hunt 😉

I didn’t have any glasses to watch the elipse … I was really interested in the changing light. Sadly, there was virtually no change. We had 70% coverage and at best I’d say the light was a bit flat. Nothing more 😦

    • Thanks Lori 🙂
It’s strange how some months seem to disappear and others drag by.
Thinking about you … I’m sure all your months are filled with anxiety right now. Hugs.

  7. Beautiful photos! You had me at lavender and apiary! 😀
For me, August has been LONG and not the sort that flies by busily, even though it was busy.

  8. Beautiful images Joanne. Here, autumn is the nicest season and I imagine you get some wonderful, golden days too. I hope so, and hope that you can fill them with adventures.

    • Theo is very photogenic … but unfortunately he doesn’t like it when I point a camera at him. It seems he considers it a waste of my attention 😉
I managed to grab this photo because he was dead asleep!

    • Poor Theo – he’s been soooo tired lately. He’s dead tired in the afternoons from his long morning and evening patrols 😉
When winter comes and the world quiets down outside, he won’t be so exhausted 🙂

  9. You have had some lovely blue skies in August!! And certainly made the most of the summer months to get around. Mentally I am still in June – haven’t got back to normal yet and in September we have the Aussie family visiting so no chance of normality until mid October!! I am hoping we have a wonderful Indian Summer like last year, but mostly I am happy that everyone is good. (And your ‘yard’ is very pretty Jo)

  10. These are delightful photos, Joanne. Lavender and lavender honey…oh, my!! I, too, wonder where the summer and the month has gone. I keep reminding myself that I’m long out of school, so summer can easily extend into September, but it’s difficult to undo all those years of fall starting in September. 🙂

  11. Looks like a pretty full month – but I get not wanting to let go of summer. Especially where you live with your distinct seasons. I must say though, I’m loving these warm days and cool nights.

    • The cool nights are wonderful for sleeping … at least theoretically, since sleep still seems to be hit-and-miss with me.
I don’t like the extreme heat and especially the humidity, so I’m not really complaining about this summer. Well, except for the rain. We’ve had just a little too much of that!

    • I don’t really appreciate how much I get done in a month until I start to look at the photos to write this monthly post. Yes – it’s been a good month and actually a good summer. More would be nice 🙂

    • You have the promise of summer and warm weather ahead of you. As our nights start to get outright chilly, we have the opposite to look forward to.
I’ve seen pictures of wattle trees in bloom but I don’t recall ever seeing anything like them before. I would imagine it makes the soul sing when those sunny yellow flowers pop out in spring 🙂
