Musical Doors

There’s been the unmistakable sound of singing coming from my photo library again. This time it’s the doors (not The Doors) who are offering the musical interlude.

Take a listen …

๐ŸŽผ I’m bad to the bone, bad to the bone ๐ŸŽถ (1)
๐ŸŽถ I’m the King of the Castle, and you’re the dirty rascal ๐ŸŽถ (2)
๐ŸŽถ 99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer .. ๐ŸŽถ (3)
๐ŸŽถ You’ve got to hide your love away … ๐ŸŽถ (4)
๐ŸŽถ Goin’ to the chapel, and I’m gonna get married ๐ŸŽถ (5)
๐ŸŽถ She’s climbing the stairway to heaven ๐ŸŽถ (6)

This musical interlude was inspired by Thursday Doors, hosted by Norm Frampton at Norm 2.0. All photos were taken in Dublin.

  1. Joanne, Iโ€™m so glad to hear that you found a backup of your photos. yay!

Boy, those tunes sure take me back. 99 bottles of beer on a wall reminds me of many a teenaged party, not to mention singing it on a bus on a spring break ski trip (no social distancing then). And as for Stairway to Heaven, it reminds me of registration day at UBC in first year. This was during the time of manual registration and standing in line for up to two hours for each course you registered in. My friends and I came back to our residence room, turned off all the lights and played Stairway to Heaven at full blast. I still have that album (vinyl) somewhere.

    • That one was a wow. It is in an atrium at the Dublin Art Museum and the room has this single entrance/exit. You don’t see the mural until you turn around to leave. The effect is definitely a wow.

  2. Ahhh, this is special! What an inspired selection of images and tunes. And you even reached for Mr. Vedder, even though you could simply say The Beatles. All the door scenes are truly majestic. Thank you!

  3. I love the musical twist, Joanne! I thought that Viking Ship would be my favorite because it’s creative and bold. And then I thought it would be the pub because I love that quilt-patterned glass. But I think the mural may take the cake. I’m always in awe of what some artists can create! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. A singalong doors post! It may be my favourite doors post ever. ๐Ÿ˜

Although, I didn’t know Bad to the Bone. Got all the rest, though. Suspect You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away will stick in the head the longest having been a Beatles fan since I was seven.

  5. These are terrific. As much as I have a soft spot for church doors that mural of man over the door is my big favourite from this batch. Bravo and welcome back ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • I do enjoy putting together these โ€œI hear voicesโ€ posts. They take a lot of time though … itโ€™s quite the rabbit hole! Thatโ€™s why I cut it off at a handful.

  6. I really enjoyed all these Dublin doors, Joanne, and the musical accompaniment too. That painting of the man with his leg hanging down, #4, is so eye-catching and creative.

  7. Happy to see you back here! Does that mean you were able to purchase a camera? LOVE that gate. The songs you are pointing out, made me smile, especially the next to last one. I remember that one of our trips we sang that song for a few hours:):) You’ve gotto do something to drive away boredom!

    • Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ I think my muse is on overtime now. I have more ideas swirling around in my head than I have time to possibility deal with.
Yes, I do have a new camera and Iโ€™m starting to get more comfortable with it now.

Boredom is rarely something I ever have to deal with. My issue is usually trying to squeeze too much into my available time ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. You have so many great pictures here. I love the Chapel door, and another favorite is the picture of the little person – you? – in black and white with the big person towering above.

    • I too loved mural guy. At first I was annoyed that someone walked through the doorway as I was taking my photo, but I decided I liked this one best after all!

I have random songs pop into my head at the strangest times. If I could carry a tune, I’d be one of those people bursting into song when you least expect it.

  9. Oh my goodness – I love those hinges on the chapel door! I also wouldn’t mind taking a few of those bottles down and drinking them I (I never understood the pass-it-around part, I mean, its a beer).
