All you hear on the radio or TV lately is COVID this and coronavirus that. I am in a complete pandemic meltdown.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, my photos are at it again … getting restless from all the social isolation. Take a listen.

“But I tell you, in spite of the resemblance, I’m NOT related to the coronavirus!”
“Where did everyone go?”
“Noooooo – too many people!! … way too many … keep your distance … don’t touch me … gaaaaah!!
“Oh Leonard! It’s a terrible situation. My hair is a mess and I don’t know what I’m going to do!”
“If I land right on top of her, I can drag her back inside to wash her hands”.
“Just what I need right now for my frayed nerves”.
“Seriously? That’s all I have to do? What’s the catch?”

This post was brought to you by Thursday Doors, the coronavirus, social distancing, and way too much time to think. All photos were taken last November in Lisbon with my iPhone.

For more interesting doors from around this disease-riddled planet, check out Norm 2.0. Norm is practicing social distancing but you can wave at him from the security of your computer screen.

Be safe out there everyone!

    • I’m in the same position. I’ve been rather ambivalent about blogging for the past many months and I touch only a small fraction of posts that hit my mailbox.

    • Some days I think laughter is the only thing holding me together 😏…. glad I could share it.

It was really nice talking with you yesterday, Jude. I’m already looking forward to the next one 😊

  1. I love what the photos are saying, Joanne! “My hair is a mess” took me a second to figure out and then a belly laugh. My husband is out for a walk. Going a bit stir crazy. When he gets back I will share your post with him. I know he will get a giggle, especially “wine with a view.” A much needed dose of medicine right now. Thank you!

      • I don’t have much coughing and my temp lives at 100 for three days. Body aches, terrible sore throat, swollen glands, and runny nose.
Thank you very much. I am concerned, yes. No one (dr’s office, family) thinks I have the plague, which is supposed to comfort me. So far, Manja has been the most helpful, in saying if I can smell and taste, it’s not IT. Well I am smelling and tasting everything just fine. Appetite good.

        • Interesting. I didn’t know about smell and taste. From what I understand, there are many mutations of this virus which is why it’s such a problem. You or I could in fact have one of them and not know it … although a good appetite is normally a good sign.

          Be well!!

  2. I’m a bit behind on reading posts so this was the perfect start to a Monday morning in a turned upside-down world. A nice dose of laughter! I hope you and you’re family are doing well, Joanne 🙂

    • To you and your’s too, Amy.

While isolating at home fits us perfectly as introverts, the weirdness of the world right now just cranks up the overall anxiety level … something I personally just don’t need or want. Finding some calm or humour in the day is a necessary balance 🙂

  3. Good to have a laugh these days. Always love seeing Lisbon.
On another note Joanne the link on your gravatar to your blog is broken. So if you leave a comment on my blog. I get an 404 error message when I click on your name.

    • We are doing our part to stay isolated as much as possible … but that tends to be our default position at the best of times 😏

This is such an interesting situation with the entire world all experiencing the same issue at the same time, having the same conversation. I’m quite fascinated by it.

      Be well, Anabel!

    • My muse thanks you 🙂 I do enjoy doing these posts.

I hope you and your family are doing well during this weirding of the world. I’m fascinated by the fact that we are all having the same experience regardless of where we are in the world.

  4. Thanks for the smile. I know the virus is serious, and we do need to stay away from each other and exist in place etc. But really, we also MUST keep our sense of humor. My guy and I limit our TV time (especially news) and try to just spend 1/2 hour with the newspaper. The rest of the time, talk with friends/family/ read/ write (in my case) and walk outside. Take care my friend!

    • This is one of those rare times when the entire world is on the same page fighting the same battle. I wouldn’t have predicted the world would be brought to its knees by a virus.

We have some very tough days ahead. What we are being asked to do is relatively simple – and even then, people are having difficulty with compliance. Sigh.

      Be well!

  5. Wow, your time of absence certainly gave you a fresh eye – these shots are all mesmerizing! Am passing on something hubby read: 6 feet distance for interaction with another person. I’m hoping the other one has a loud voice then, lol! Thanks for this post, Joanne, it almost forgot about the … you know what!

  6. […] Joanne and I are still endeavouring to still meet – safely – for our weekly hiking adventure. Now we don’t hug or even get close. And no lunch out afterwards either (restaurants all closed, anyways). But we are still having fun…or at least we were until I took a tumble right at the end of our hike (thankfully!), and strained my ankle. I have every confidence on being back on the trail with her by next week, barring Ontario being put into total lockdown that is! […]

  7. Was just chatting with a friend and saying that this event could lead to a great re-set of our values, of how we perceive and treat the world and each other… In the case of the green button, I hope there’s a bottle of Purell chained to the stand today.

Be well, Joanne – we are OK and we will get through this.

    • I think there’s going to be a great re-set too. The world has just taken a massive pivot.

I’m waffling back and forth between deep denial that anything is wrong, and borderline panic. To be honest, this whole thing is really creeping me out.

        • I saw a sight yesterday outside my front door that made me laugh out loud. I live on a very quiet street with little traffic at the best of times. Except now, foot traffic has increased substantially as people are getting out for fresh air.

Two couples were out walking and as they approached each other – right in front of my house – all four extended their arms out to avoid each other. It appears they may have known each other because of the big smiles on their faces. It definitely made me laugh out loud.

  8. Those people squeezing through the door should really be taking Sting’s advice – “Don’t stand so, don’t stand so, don’t stand so close to me” 🎵🎵

  9. Love this. Wine with a view would be a real boon to my world right now. I understand how serious this is, but lord love a duck, a sip of levity is what the world needs. Cheers.

  10. I had to turn off the television last night, Joanne. It was freaking me out! Thanks for the laughs – especially since laughter boosts our immune systems! Great pictures, and would you press that green button a few times? Thanks, my friend. Take care.

  11. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I thought we’d lived through a lot, but this has taken us to an entirely different level of concern. I know we’ll come out the other side, but that doesn’t keep us from going crazy on the trip there. Stay safe, and, yes, I washed my hands before typing this comment. 🙂

  12. That is hilarious, Joanne!! Thank you! You can be sure I will sharing your post! Spread the joy! Yeah, mobile wine would be perfect. If we ever had that happen here, we will be lining up nicely with our driver’s licenses in hand as proof of age. 😉 I am very tempted to start a “singing from the balcony” situation as soon as it gets warm enough to step out on the balcony!
    Take care and be safe.

This is one of those times when introverts get to truly shine. Although I need a regular dose of outdoors, I have plenty of interests to keep me entertained indoors.

I admit to a real meltdown earlier this week. This constant bombardment of doom-and-gloom started to get to me.
Writing this post really helped me find my sense of humour again.
